The first step in coming up with a boat-ho-style crown made of braids is to brush your hair to eliminate any tangles and apply a light texturized spray to give it something to cling to. Separate your hair in the middle or off a little on one side, and then take a side strand of hair on one side or the other, that is close to your ear, and start on one of these strands, either in a classic or a Dutch braid. Keep on braid and continue all the way around the head and ensure that braid is not tight. Tie the end with a small elastic and fasten the braid over the back of the head and curve the ends with the braid under the hair.
