This photograph is used to feature the isolated, hectic atmosphere of a hospital fracture clinic- the orthopaedic trauma triage. An organised group of orthopaedic, nursing and technician professionals is on the move, thus evaluating patients at different days of bone recovery. Others come in with new injuries, with their members being placed in temporary splints until the fracture patterns have been confirmed by Reich. Other ones come back to cheque their cast, fearing it is out of position or uncomfortable. The clinic runs itself in a military fashion: X-ray is read in real-time, casts are altered or replaced instantly and treatment plans are changed in real-time depending on the healing progress. This workflow specifically requires that fractures have efficient expert attention without overloading emergency departments.
